Since we are not interested in virusses in our call center where we do outsourcing for our UK, US and australia clients we mostly use Linux Mint.
Since we always stay on top of our game we now upgraded to Linux Mint Mate 1.4 Desktop
This is to show you how it is done!
Remember releases do not give you automated option to upgrade MATE 1.2
forr this you need to edit the following:
ONE of the following repos to /etc/apt/sources.list via the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://packages.mate-desktop.org/repo/ubuntu precise main"
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://repo.mate-desktop.org/ubuntu precise main"
Then Also edit
the /etc/apt/preferences
Package: *
Pin: release o=linuxmint
Pin-Priority: 700
Package: *
Pin: origin packages.linuxmint.com
Pin-Priority: 700
Package: *
Pin: release o=Ubuntu
Pin-Priority: 500
Package: *
Pin: origin packages.mate-desktop.org
Pin-Priority: 700
We somehow have to select all packages...
Then click apply
After upgrade log out to have changes take effect. Have fun with MATE 1.4 !
